Teachers College Advancing Literacy invites you to join our virtual Focused Topic Courses for the 2024-2025 school year. These virtual synchronous courses offer an in-depth study of a variety of topics for grades K-12.

Teachers College staff developers will provide instruction in topic-based content, drawing on educational research that supports teachers’ professional knowledge and also supports teachers as they work to put research into practice via classroom instruction. Participants will join a community of teachers engaged in collaborative study, not only of topic specific content of the course, but also the study of student work and assessment data to ensure responsive teaching. TC staff developers will engage in demonstration teaching and support participants as they reflect and prepare for classroom implementation. In order to maximize professional development opportunities, participants will also receive support with suggestions about ways to share content with colleagues when they return to their schools. The Focused Topic Courses will meet virtually from 9:00am-2:30pm ET with a 45 minute break for lunch. If your school or district is interested in arranging for a group of 15 or more to attend one course together, it may be possible to schedule an in-person course.
